In Cambodia

Hey guys. This place is a real eye opener. The people are so happy and friendly but the place is so dirty and run down. The palace and temples are very rich looking though. It is such a contrast.

I have a question for you to ponder and I would like your thoughts.

Is the money that tourists like me spend in this country (which helps keep poorer people in work) out weighed by exposing people to things, and a way of life, that is out of their reach right now? And if and when that way of life is possible will it ruin what is good about a country like this?

You might want to do some Googling to see if you can get some images and facts about what it is like here in Phonm Phehn (check my spelling... I've gone blank while typing this!) Cambodia. We are only spending one more day here then we are going to go and look at some more remote places.

I hope you are having a good break :)

In Singapore

Hey guys I'm at Singapore airport. Had to sleep on these giant beanbags we found in the terminal last night. Was quite cool really. I wanted to log on here so that (hopefully) Singapore might show up on our map!

I hope you are all having a good start to your holidays. Keep us all informed about what you have been up to :)

Netball

Congratulations to our fantastic netball team for winning the ASB Netball Trophy this year. We are soooooo proud of all you!. Please comment on some of the highlights of the game. Once I get the camera back I'll post some photos for us all to see.

On 7th of September 2010, Saint Patricks 'A' team travelled up to Westport to compete in the ASB Bank Primary Netball Challenge. We left the school at about 8:45 and arrived at the Solid Energy indoor stadium at 10:45. Captain Eilish got us all ready for the warm ups. After stretching and warming our muscles we had a quick game of half court. Finally the other team arrived and we started the game.
Our 1st game against Westport North. The positions were: Carla-GS, Tay-GA, Briana-C, Eilish.R-WD, Bridget-WD, Eilish.B-GD, Breesha-GK,Alexandra-WA, Brittany-WA, Kristina-GK. Everyone had a court time on both games. We won 18-14. Close game!

Our second game we played against Westland High school. They won last year so we thought we were going to lose. But by surprise we won! (25-12) By this time we were all so tired and worn out, but we kept going and giving all our effort. We kept trying and trying.

We are all so proud of EVERYONES performance. Great thanks to Sall & Helen, the awesomest coaches ever & also a thanks to the parents that took the time off work to take us up to Westport.

Fingers crossed for the girls next year (:
