  1. Those Brave Miners
    We wait patiently,
But our patience is running out,
    The situation looks bleak,
    Another explosion strikes,
    All hope is lost,
    It is the end,
We hear the news we have been dreading,
Our worst fears have been confirmed,
This was the West Coast's darkest day,
    We held onto hope,
But now make way for sorrow,
    For those brave miners,
Who will never walk amongst us again,
    Rest In Peace,
Its loss will be felt in every home,
But New Zealand is a tough,
    Resilient little country,
    Kia Kaha.

  2. This is a poem I wrote the night of the accident.Enjoy (:

I am sad, so I let the tears fall free
I am am anxoius, I do not tey to hid it
So many emotions convoy acroos my mind
Leading me to what if's or could haves
Worry pierces my each and every thought
Confused and lost, they make me sick to the stomach
Love and loss, I have experienced both
    On this dar, dark day
I want to voice my words
But I think to myself "those are careless"and leave it at that
Sorrow is strong in my heart
But hope and faith are fighting through
I wisj to hear the good news
Of surving miners covered in soot they may be
But safe in there homes, toassty warm with a good book to read
Young and old yes they were
Some at the end of there tracks
And some just starting a new
    But time cannot be undone
So we shall play the waiting game
And we will wait for that day we see them again

  3. Rest in piece all 29 miners who lost their lives in the Pike Mine explosion, we will never forget them. And the bravery all the families, friends and community have showed.
