A day at Shantytown
We had a day to focus on team work and managing ourselves as well as learning about the history of gold mining on the West Coast. Please post some comments: 1. what you learned 2. the highlight of your day 3. how you worked as part of a team.
That was a really fun trip. The highlight for me was when made our pack and carried it through the bush it was cool:)And I agree Briahn gold pannibg is harder then it looked I was terrible:)
I thought the trip was so fun.My highlight for the day would have to be the gold panning and finding gold in my pan,i learned that trying to dig for gold and gold panning it is harder then i thought it was going to be:)i also thought we all looked great even the girls that were dressed as boys
Mollie: I learned how to gold-pan and that its harder than it looks sometimes. The highlight for me was the whole day because I realy enjoyed it and it was fun. I think my team worked well together when we were carring the pack because we all did it.
Briana: I learned how the chinese lived back in the days of the goldrushes. The highlight of the day for me was gold panning.I think my team worked well together when we were making the pack.
1.I learnt that... there are different ways of gold mining. 2.The highlight of my day was... gold panning because I found the first and the smallest bit of gold. 3.How I worked as part of a team was... when I spent alot of time gold panning in the creek and making our pack.
Something I learnt was that when the Gold minors came over from Christchurch they bought salted meat with them. Bacon is a salted meat so even if it turns green and slimy you can boil it up and eat it.!
The highlight of the day for me was being able to wear those awesome hats.
And Finally I think that I contributed to the group by making our hut and giving lots of ideas.
I learnt howhard it must of been to be a gold miner.
My highlight of the day was seting up the hut and the roped of bit where we got gravel from.The only bad part about that is when I got hit on my hand by a hammer.
I worked as a team with my freinds by doing as much as I could to help pack up the mining gear.
I learned that people came from all over the world to the gold rush on the Westcoast. my highlight was getting gold and the train ride.I Helped my team by caring the back pack and building the hut.
Shantytown was awesome, I learnt that the miners from Chch walked to the West Coast because of the gold!!! Eilish, Briana, Bridget and I worked well as a team when we had to carry that pack up the hill. The funnest part of the day was getting some gold and getting to know what it was like in those days :)
when we were in shantytown I learnt that all the people from china were always hated.my highlight is gold panning in the river.I helped my team by carring the package through the track
My main highlight of the day was gold mineing we had fun and enjoyed it. I learned that pepole from christchurch walked in a single file line in thousand to the west coast. i could oof helped my team more in the shelter.
I learnt that your age was the amount of inches your waist had to be. My highlight of the day was gold panning. I helped my team carry the package throught the bush.

The highlight of my day was being able to wear all those old clothes for the whole day.

ReplyDeleteSomething I learnt at Shantytown is that the Maori's used the hill by cobden as a lookout point to see if anyone was coming in the river.
